Two Hour Recording Block Hello and welcome to the 2 hour recording special section. You will discover what the 2 hour block is and what you can expect if you book recording time.
The purpose of the two hour block is to enable an artist the opportunity to record a single song with a single accompaniment for $125. When your song is recorded, it will be mixed
and mastered to a Redbook standard CD. The Redbook standard is a CD that is ready for mass duplication, either at a pressing plant or your own computer. There a few points to keep in mind when
booking a 2 hour recording block. 1. This recording special is for a single song with a single accompaniment. What that means is you can sing one song with one background instrument.
The background instrument can be a guitar, piano, accordion or any other instrument as long as it is a single instrument. You can also sing to a pre recorded and mixed track CD either
commercially purchased or recorded by you or someone else. No other overdubs (other recorded instruments) will be added to the recording except vocals. 2. After recording the
background track, your vocal (or solo instrument) will be mixed with the accompaniment. Reverb, delay or other effects that will complement your voice will be added to the recording and all will
be combined to a 2 track master CD. The CD will be Redbook standard so it can be played and duplicated anywhere. Here is what to expect when you arrive for your recording. 1. A pre-recorded CD can be transferred from the CD to a digital multi-track recorder in about 15 minutes. If you have a guitar or piano, a 20 minute set
up time for getting the proper sound can be expected.2. A vocal should take about 40 minutes to record. This will include doing a run through to get equalization and compression for
the recording. There are two methods to recording vocals. One method is to do a number of takes and pick the best lines from the performances (usually three to pick from). Another method is to
"punch in". This method uses the best take and fixes various words or lines. It's different for all artists and we can pick the best one for you. 3. After your accompaniment and
vocal are recorded, we then blend them together in a process called mixing. We add delay, reverb and other effects to give the recording a "high gloss" sound. This process takes about 30 minutes.
HARMONIES – Harmony vocals should be avoided unless they are worked out in advance. Adding harmonies traditionally takes the most time in the studio. Relatively simple harmonies can
take as long as 2-3 hours to record and can bring frustration to a vocalist. BOOKING TIME If you would like to book a recording date, please call 716 879-0707. Ablecon answering service will book time
